What is the difference between these large gradient swatches and the small ones?
The small swatches in "hue strips" and before the brand & color names in listings - and also the dots representing colors in the color planes - are digital swatches showing the masstone of that color.
Color measurement is based on masstone and we use that as our color data for all color functionality.
Read about "How our color samples are made (masstone)" in our Methodology →
You can see the original masstone swatches on the individual pages of brand colors (color page).
And also in the "Dot chart" view on brand pages.
