Description from the manufacturer
Slate refers to various types of metamorphic rock which are used to make roof tiles. Slate contains iron oxides, graphite, clays, mica, and quartz, which contribute to its particular shade of grey. This unusual pigment is naturally granular and needs vigorous grinding to make a workable paint.
