Scarlet Red is also commercially available under the name Dibromoanthron Orange. It is a clear, brilliant yellow-tinted red that is often used as a glazing pigment in automotive paints (metallic finishes). Chemically, scarlet red is a chlorinated anthraquinone derivative. It thus belongs to the same dye group as indanthrene blue (PB 60). Scarlet red is characterized by very good light fastness properties: both for the full shade and for weak dilutions, fastness grade 8 applies, for stronger dilutions "only" 7-8 can be specified. Resistance in acid, alkali or lime cannot be improved with 5 either. Weather resistance (5) is also very good. Solvent fastness is very good in solvents used by painters, but Scarlet tends to bloom in some plastics.
